I watched it with my ultra theocratic wife; unfortunately she slept through most of it so she is planning another viewing. It really was that rivetting!

on one hand i enjoy uncovering the hypocrisy, it's a good reminder as to why i am faded away.. on the other hand i dont know if i should waste my time watching crap.. thoughts?.

i wrote this thinking that maybe some of our new folks would enjoy it, but i think i may have given the posting a bad or misleading subject line, because it has been little read and not commented on at all.
tell me how much the story sucks, and why it sucks as much as it does.
si vous plait.
Some time ago I read that in the 1980's the WTS had Russell's pyramid opened and 'undisclosed items' removed. I wonder if that is true and what they were?

you sow with a view to the spirit.
Excellent observations as always, Blondie.
We have 5 elders, 3 of which were drafted in from a local congregation as we keep losing our own. They either move away, (can't stand the congregation) fall away, or are D/Fed.
The MS situation is similar, 3 in total, 1 of which is an ex-elder.

hi folks, i'm already a member of jwr (different name), but i read far more posts here than on that board so i thought i would join in.
plenty of good company here by the looks.
cheers .
I'm new here also. The only problem with this site - IT'S ADDICTIVE!!
Welcome from George
I think I'm giddy like a school girl now
Sorry Soldier, until I read the rest of the comments I thought this was a Girl/Girl date! (Not that there's anything wrong in that of course)

i'm sure it's impossible to know for sure but, in people's opinions, what would be a rough estimate of how many people are still in because of fear of losing loved ones?.
I am exactly like CoC. I have been married for 40 years (very happily) to a super wife. I do not want to jeopodize this relationship. My mother who is almost 90 has been a witness since the late 1940's and for me to be D/F or D/A would be the final straw for her.
Just need to keep ticking over for a while.

this time i'm writing to comment on this thread by hadenuf:.

she is happy that her accepting a blood transfusion means she is definitely free.
If no-one donated blood, where would JW's get all their 'fractions' from?

in the new dvd governing body member david splane discusses the fact that the bible students did not simply disappear after russell died in 1916. he says this is because jehovah had already chosen the organization to do his work.. this is not a work of man, this is a work of jehovah god.
it's evident that jehovah had already chosen this organization, because of the faithfulness and the sincerity of the men behind it.
it's obvious that jehovah had already chosen this organization to get his work done.
I presume there will be more on Rutherford in volume 2. This DVD only went up to about 1919 I think.
Maybe so but the DVD went well beyond 1919. The ADV talk was in 1922 or 1923 but the last few minutes of the DVD are of N H Knorr who took over in 1942. We will just have to wait and see.
I think a copy of OZ's fabulous cartoon of this DVD should be attached to every copy!

I watched the DVD last night after the convention. I also noted the pre-1916 comment and wondered if they are going to quietly drop 1919 as it has no scriptual proof whatever.
Maria never got a mention, neither did the 1881 organisation with Conley as President, at least the Proclaimers book gives him a one line mention!
Rutherford is obviously out of favour judging by the small amout of coverage he got. I thought his most famous (or infamous) talk was not ADV but Millions now Living!
The R&F will Oooh and Arrh with delight without noting anything.
